Aaron Daniel Rexius, 49, of Morrill died unexpectedly on Monday, September 19, 2022, at his home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, September 23, 2022, at Reverence Funeral Parlor in Scottsbluff. Burial will follow at Mitchell Valley Cemetery south of Mitchell. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Reverence Funeral Parlor in Scottsbluff. The funeral service will be livestreamed and recorded to Aaron’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com. Aaron was born October 8, 1972, in Scottsbluff, to Daniel Rexius and Kathleen “Kay” Thomas. He attended Morrill High School graduating with the class of 1991.
Aaron was just a small child when he sparked an interest in farming, tractors, and machinery. He aspired to be a farmer one day, and eventually began working as a farm hand for several years. Aaron later attended school in Kansas and became certified in heavy equipment operation. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for the past 20 years in Torrington.
He was a fan of the Wyoming Cowboys, the Kansas City Chiefs, and enjoyed watching NASCAR. Aaron was a very talented chef and liked experimenting with various recipes. He had multiple smokers that he used to cook savory meats. He had a green thumb and grew a bountiful garden, later incorporating his homegrown vegetables into his recipes. Aaron was very industrious and took an interest in chainsaws and wood cutting. He was meticulous and knowledgeable in how he cared for his prized machinery.
Aaron was generous, happy, and loved life. He always wore a smile with dimples included. He will be deeply missed by all.
Survivors include his father, Daniel (Rose Huber) Rexius; mother, Kay (Morris Hessler) Thomas; siblings, Jennifer (Angie) Rexius and Will Rexius; paternal grandma, Betty Jo Rexius; nieces, Sabrina and Gabby Jackson; aunts and uncles, Beverly Rexius, Carole (Don) Young, Larry (Joyce) Thomas, Allan Thomas, Myron Thomas, and Carolyn (Steve) Mowry; cousins, Todd Thomas, Misty Thomas, Ryan (Tiffany) Thomas, Heather (Tim) Esterdahl, Krisa Thomas, Stevie (Trever) Eickhoff, and Lee (Aleesa) Mowry; along with other extended family members and friends.
Aaron was preceded in death by his paternal grandpa, Jake Rexius; maternal grandparents, Lee R. Thomas and Carrie Thomas; aunt, Melanie Thomas; cousin, Wayne Thomas; and meeting Aaron at the gates of Heaven was his beloved dog, Pupperton.
