Brenda was born on December 26, 1968, to James Arlon and Victoria Jean (Keller) Gompert. Brenda attended Scottsbluff High School where she cheered and ran track for the Scottsbluff Bearcats.
Brenda married her high school sweetheart, Leonard Salazar, in 1986 and they remained together until 1992. Three beautiful children came from this union: Alexis, Amanda and Amber. Brenda later married Trae Garvie in 1994 and they divorced in 1998. Together they welcomed two more beautiful children: Brendin and Traeci.
Brenda was a charismatic, outgoing person, with a big smile. She was friendly and always ready to engage in a conversation and take center stage! She had a big heart and a great sense of humor. One of Brenda’s most commendable accomplishments was the birth of her five wonderful children. She spoke frequently and fondly of the lives they created and how very proud she was of every one of them. As a young child, Brenda was led to the Lord by her grandmother, Emma, and came to accept our Lord Jesus Christ as her savior. At the end of her life, Brenda voiced confidently, “Yes, I know Jesus!” Brenda will be missed by her children, family, and friends who all loved her dearly.
Survivors include her father, Jim Gompert; sisters, Rebecka Funk and Bobbi Ulrich; brother, Bryon Six; children, Alexis (Mike) Soundsleeper, Amanda Salazar (partner, Jose Longoria), Amber Salazar, Traeci (Justin) Jackson, and Brendin Garvie (fiancée, Tarryn DeMers); twelve beautiful grandchildren, Ace, Seattle and Axl Soundsleeper, Aaliyah, Abram, Aden, Aveah and Xiomari Longoria, Jedadiah and Adalee Duque, and Liam and Angus Jackson; along with other extended family members and friends.
Brenda was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Emma and Wesley Gompert; maternal grandparents, Tom and Audra “Jeanie” Morimoto; mother, Victoria Brown; stepfather, Fred Brown; and two brothers, Jeffrey Gompert and Brent Six.
