Caroline “Carrie” Y. Quevedo, age 82, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, surrounded by her family and devoted husband of 64 years by her side at Regional West Medical Center. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Scottsbluff with Fr. Joseph Thambi as Celebrant. A visitation will take place one-half hour prior to the Rosary. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Memorials may be made in care of the family. The Mass will be live-streamed and recorded to Carrie’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.

Carrie was born November 19, 1942, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to Sotero and Josie “Pepa” (Ybarra) Salazar. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1960 and furthered her education by taking classes at WNCC.

She was married to her High School sweetheart, Joseph “Qball” L. Quevedo Jr. on April 5, 1961. She worked at the Scotts Bluff County Courthouse for 15 years and was a Para at Scottsbluff Schools for 11 years. She also worked at Pepa’s Mexican Restaurant off and on for several years.

Carrie was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish and the community. Carrie continued to recite her rosary every day, even after she was unable to attend church on a regular basis. She and her husband Joe would hold New Years Eve dances, in which all proceeds would go back to the church. The couple would frequently be seen out at dances where they loved to dance the Jitterbug and were very good at it.

She and Joe were the type of people that enjoyed working with the youth, especially those who were less fortunate. They both had lived in similar situations when they were younger and loved to help others. Joe formed the “Little Big Man Basketball” and Carrie would help run the concession stands during tournaments. This program ran for several years and was always something the kids looked forward to.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph “Qball” L. Quevedo Jr.; children, Joseph Quevedo III, Ricardo (Anna) Quevedo, and Celestina (Geno) Bolger Jr.; siblings, Mary Garza, Henrietta (John) Moreno Jr., Ben Salazar, Sotero (Carmen) Salazar Jr., Rachel (Art) Gonzales, Linda Gonzales, and Vidal (June) Salazar; grandchildren, Shawna Quevedo, Stan (Claudia) Quevedo, Martin Quevedo (Barry Seipel), Elise Quevedo, Jeremiah (Leanna) Quevedo, Asia Razo, Nicandro Quevedo, Kendrick Bolger, and Mylin Bolger; great grandchildren, Tiana Quevedo, Mia Quevedo, Isaiah Quevedo, Giovanni Quevedo, Audyn Quevedo, Niko Quevedo, Joseph Maldonado, Fhenix Bolger Rodriguez, Nalanii Bolger Rodriguez, and Londyn Bolger Rodriguez; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
