Cherie Lynn Olsen

Cherie Lynn Olsen, age 74, of Gering, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly in the comfort of her own home on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. A gathering will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, November 1, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church reception hall in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Cremation has taken place in accordance with Cherie’s wishes. Memorials may be made in care of the family and will be designated at a later date. Cherie was born on December 13, 1949, in Adrian, Michigan to William LeMaitre and Lucille Parson.

Cherie married Ralph Beers in 1969. She became the proud mother of her daughter, Linda. The couple later divorced. In November of 1971 Cherie married Dennis Coffman and to this union, her son Roy, was born. The marriage ended, but Cherie eventually met the love of her life, H. Clair Olsen. They were wed on February 29, 1980. She and Clair farmed and ranched together in Banner County for fifteen years until his passing on December 19, 1995. Cherie moved to her own acreage outside of Gering in 2005. The farm life was the best life to Cherie.

She worked many jobs to provide for her family and live comfortably over the years. Most recently she was employed at Git ‘N Split. Cherie was a dedicated farm wife and always said if you went away hungry from her kitchen it was your fault. She was an avid bowler for over thirty years and attended both state and national tournaments. The greatest joy she had came from being a grandma and great-grandma. Cherie “Mom” will be greatly missed by all.

Survivors include her children, Linda (Scott) Harris and Roy (Jen) Coffman; daughter-in-law, Joni Olsen; mother, Lucy James; brothers, William LeMaitre and Gene (Barb) LeMaitre; sister, Diana (Ernest) Holman; eleven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; special friends, Gunther and Dot Koob; along with several nieces and nephews and countless friends.

She was preceded in death by her biological father, William LeMaitre; step-father, Tunney James; husband, H. Clair Olsen; and step-children, Mark and Susan Olsen.
