He married Shelley Renae Horton on August 2, 1996, in the Denver, Colorado Temple. Six children were born to this union.
Curtis was a Jack of all trades including but not limited to knowing farm hand work, acting as a shuttle driver for a car dealership, employment with John Deere as a parts associate, and his service as a CNA/Burn tech. Curtis kept busy doing many activities outside of his work. He was very giving of his time and talents. He enjoyed volunteering for the Greeley, Colorado Farm Show, attending auctions, camping, fishing, and shooting. Family time was cherished by Curtis, and he especially liked opportunities to share his love for the outdoors with his children. He took the time to tinker on cars with his children, teaching them helpful mechanical skills. Curtis was often conversing with people. His company would soon get a taste of his sarcastic and sometimes twisted sense of humor. He was a jokester and lovingly teased people.
