Dan was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on October 17, 1966. He spent his early childhood years outside of Bules, Idaho until the family relocated to the panhandle of Nebraska in 1977. He graduated from Dalton High School in 1985 and moved around quite a bit. Dan became the father of two children during this time. Son, Shane, in March of 1990, with partner, Pamela Mastropieri and daughter, Shantell, in March of 1993 with partner, Michele Litke. His children were his pride and joy. Dan eventually settled in Broadwater, Nebraska where he lived for many years.
In 2004, Dan graduated from WNCC with his associate’s degree. Although Dan had several jobs throughout his life, he was the happiest when he had his own computer business he operated from his home. He was well known for being 'tech savvy' and being able to solve any computer problem.
A few things Dan enjoyed throughout his life were gaming, gardening, painting, writing poetry and song lyrics as well as playing frisbee. More recently, he was teaching himself to play the guitar as he always had a love for instruments. He was a very proud grandfather and loved playing with his grandson more than anything in the world. He enjoyed deep conversations and had a love for God's creations, especially the stars and solar system. Dan will always be remembered for his kindness and curiosity of the world. One could say he did not know a stranger. Above all, he cherished his faith in our Heavenly Father.
Survivors include his father, Jerry Hopwood of Floydada, TX; son, Shane Goscha of Cambridge, NE; daughter, Shantell (Kane) Boots of Hyannis, NE; grandson, Kohen Boots; bonus children, Zachary Mueller and Sierra Reyes; sisters, Lori Turner and Lisa Warner; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry (Cindy) Hopwood; along with numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
