David L. Urwin, 71, of Mitchell, died unexpectedly on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the Mitchell City Cemetery with Pastor Allen Strawn officiating. Racing or Husker attire is welcomed. Cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to the family or directly to Herstead Monument in Scottsbluff. Online condolences may be left at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.
David was born December 30, 1950 in Norfolk, Nebraska to Johnnie and Betty (Thompson) Urwin. He worked for many years as a delivery driver for Jirdon Agri Chemicals prior to his retirement. David later managed the Pit Stop Bar & Grill in Lyman for nine years.
David loved stock car racing and spending time with his family and the Hiway 92 Raceway family. He was an avid Mitchell Tiger basketball fan. David was recognized for attending over 400 consecutive games. He also enjoyed following the Southeast high school team. He liked mowing lawns and had several mowers that he spent time meticulously maintaining for use for various mowing jobs. He was also a caring companion to his beloved dog, DJ.
Survivors include his son, Davey (Cherymie) Urwin of Minatare; daughters, Shelly Urwin of Gering and Roxieann (Jeremiah) Clinkenbeard of Centerville, Iowa; grandchildren, Zachary Andersen, Tristan Urwin, Alyssa Urwin, Aaralyn Urwin, Roy (Krisie) Adams, Henry Adams, and Trevor Clinkenbeard; siblings, Loren Urwin of Mitchell, Kenneth Urwin of Scottsbluff, Marci Urwin of Mitchell, and DeLila Brozek of York; special friend, Lisa Blanton; along with many nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eldon Urwin; sister, Beatrice “Micky” Adams; nephew, John Urwin; and brother-in-law, Melvin Brozek.
