Dustin Hernandez Santos

Dustin Hernandez Santos, age 45, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 29, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2025, at the Scottsbluff YMCA Trails West Kiwanis Lodge. Memorials may be made in care of the family. Dustin was born November 8, 1979, in Scottsbluff to David Hernandez Santos Sr. and Wanda Lorrain (Brauer) Santos. Dustin completed high school at Scottsbluff High School and went on to get his associate's degree from WNCC. He then achieved a full-ride scholarship to the School of Mines & Technology in South Dakota where he majored in metallurgical engineering, a branch of materials science engineering that focuses on the study, processing, and application of metals and their alloys. It also encompasses extraction, refining, and shaping. Dustin began furthering his education towards a bachelor's degree, but unfortunate circumstances halted his education journey.

Dustin had multiple skills and abilities. He was an excellent handyman, jokingly called a “Dustin of all trades”! He had been a faithful employee at A&L Inc. since 2018.

Dustin married Philana Redfeather and together they created their home and family for the next twenty-seven years.

The most important thing to Dustin was his family. He lived everyday to make sure his wife and kids were always taken care of. Dustin took pride in being a father. He was selfless and willing to give his shirt off his back to anyone else who he thought needed it more. He truly thought of others around him before himself. Dustin had a clever sense of humor and enjoyed finding every piece of information possible about topics he found interesting. His positive personality shined as brightly as the smile that never left his face. He liked taking long hot baths to relax and enjoyed eating anything and everything, especially his sweets. Dustin made time for people in his life and loved spending time laughing and making memories with his friends (the 9th Avenue crew). The friendships he made lasted throughout his life.

Survivors include his wife, Philana; children, Paige, Fiona, Santana, Maxwell, and Isabella Santos; parents, David Sr. and Wanda Santos; siblings, David Jr. (Tiana) Santos, Denna (John) Ramos, Dianna Santos, Dario Santos, and twin brother, Donovan (Chloe) Santos; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Concha Santos, Jesse Santos, and TJ Ruley; brother, Dana Santos; sister, Dawn Santos; uncles, Jess, John, Jim, Able and Leonard Santos and Bruce Brauer; aunts, Yolanda Santos, Esther Bravo, Hope Santos, and Patsy Brauer; and nephew, Marcus Santos.
