Eldon "Bubba" Anthony

June 25, 1952 — December 17, 2024

Eldon Duane “Bubba” Anthony, age 72, of Gering, Nebraska, entered into Heaven on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, in the comfort of his home. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Calvary Memorial Church 265 18th Street in Gering with Pastor Gary Hashley officiating. Cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to Camp Rock or Community Christian School. The service will be live-streamed and recorded on Bubba’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.

Bubba was born June 25, 1952, in Chadron, Nebraska to Irvin and Dona (Hunt) Anthony. His family moved to Scottsbluff in 1965. Bubba graduated in 1970 from Scottsbluff High School. During his high school days, he was the drummer in a rock band called Shades of Blue.

Bubba married Kathy Rein in Bayard, Nebraska on January 16, 1972. The couple was blessed with three sons, Tim, Paul, and Philip.

Bubba enjoyed drag-racing, hunting, and playing fast-pitch softball. He became the catcher for the Travelers team, and his family enjoyed journeying on the weekends to different states to watch him play. Bubba coached his boys' baseball teams when they were young athletes. Later in life, he liked golfing, riding his motorcycle, and camping with family and friends.

Bubba had many adventures in his career including positions as a salesman, grocery manager, truck driver, plumber, and heating and air technician. He founded Oregon Trail Plumbing & Heating in 1978 and continued through 2008. Bubba opened the 18th Street Bar & Grille from 1999 into 2000. He also managed 3A Rental, was President of the Plumbing Board, and a member of TEM.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Kathy Anthony of Gering; sons, Tim (Tammie Brunkow) Anthony of Casper, WY, Paul Anthony of Scottsbluff, and Philip Anthony of Gering; grandchildren, Devin Anthony of Hastings, NE, Gina Anthony of Gering, Jocilyn (Padon) Lapp of Farson, WY, and Addison Anthony of Casper, WY; great-granddaughter, Imani; great-grandson, Watson; father, Irvin (Kathy) Anthony of Gering; sister, Esther Benson of Scottsbluff; brother, Ivan (Meg) Anthony of Elizabeth, CO; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dona Anthony; in-laws, John George Rein Sr. and Esther (Meier) Rein; sister and brother-in-law, Diana and Larry Yarnall; sister-in-law, Pam Anthony; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John George Rein Jr. and Kerri Rein; and nephew, Roby Rein.
