Felipa Ventura Rios, age 93, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at her daughter’s home in Scottsbluff. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Reverence Funeral Parlor in Scottsbluff with Fr. Joseph Thambi officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to service time. Cremation will follow in accordance with her wishes. A private family inurnment will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff at a later date. Memorials may be made in care of the family. Felipa was born on May 26, 1931, in Baytown, Texas to Bonifacio and Maria (de Jesús Flores) Ventura of Huanusco, Zacatecas.
She was united in marriage to Manuel Flores and to this union they lovingly welcomed seven children: Maria Herlinda, Blanca Estella, Manuel, Ricardo, Jorge, Hector, and one angel daughter. Felipa devoted her life to being a homemaker, moral/work ethics teacher, and a full-time provider of love and support. She later married Esiquio G. Rios, and they expanded their family by four additional children: Cynthia, Roberto, Margarita, and Esiquio Jr. Felipa also warmly embraced raising her granddaughter, Melinda J. Flores, as her own bonus daughter.
Felipa enjoyed life to the best of her ability and her purpose in life was her children, grandchildren, and family in San Antonio, Texas. She thoroughly enjoyed listening to music, caring for farm animals, and growing a garden. Felipa looked forward to traveling to San Antonio whenever the opportunity arose and making frequent outings to Chicken Hut and Taco Town. She was a hard, independent worker and taught her children to have good work ethics no matter the size of the job.
Survivors include her siblings, Sara V. González and Antonio (Mario) Ventura; children, Ricardo (Sylvia) Flores, Jorge Flores, Hector (Margaret) Flores, Cynthia (Jesse) Licerio, Roberto (Veronica) Rios, Margarita Gurrola, Esiquio Jr (Elizabeth) Rios, and Melinda (Gabriel) Trevino; 46 grandchildren; 68 great grandchildren; and 17 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bonifacio and Maria (de Jesús Flores) Ventura; husbands, Manuel Flores and Esiquio G. Rios; siblings, Antonia V. Martinez, Carmen V. Alvarado, José G. Ventura Sr., Vicente Ventura Sr., Crispolo Ventura Sr., and Basiliza (Güera) V. Botello; children, Maria Linda Ramirez, Blanca Estella Castillo, and Manuel A. Flores; grandchildren, Martin Contreras, Sophie Flores, Vincent (Nuno) Arrellano, Jaimen Munoz, Jesse Licerio III, and three infant grandchildren.
