Online condolences may be expressed by visiting Gene’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.
Gene was born November 22, 1933. He found humor in the fact his date of birth was 11-22-33. He was the fourth and youngest son of Glenn and Ruth (Gaumer) Hascall of Norfolk, Nebraska. Gene moved with his family to Redington, Nebraska in 1938. He attended a one room country schoolhouse and later worked farm jobs. It was in 1955 when he entered the U.S. Air Force. He served much of his time stationed in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1959.
He married Lois Chapman on May 27, 1960, in Bayard, Nebraska. They briefly made their home in Mitchell, Nebraska, before moving to Torrington in late 1960.
Gene made a living while working for Valley Motor Supply and Couplamatic. He also drove school bus for over thirty years, owned a house painting business and had a lawn care business for approximately thirty years. He did his absolute best at whatever he did and gave everything one hundred and ten percent.
Gene was a private man, kind and gentle. He was quiet and mainly stuck to himself. He never had a harsh word for anyone and was giving. Even if he didn’t have the means, he was always willing to help. He was musically gifted and played multiple musical instruments, all by ear. He had an appreciation for music, especially bluegrass, older hymns, and praise worship music. He also absolutely loved chocolate chip cookies.
He loved God above all else and always put Him first. His family came next, and he was always available for them. He is now greatly missed by that family.
