Gideon was born May 9, 1980, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff to Gene and Ruth (Jerger) Brunner. His early education took place at Gering Valley School and Cedar Canyon School. Gideon attended Banner County High School and later enrolled at Gering High School. He obtained a GED before enlisting with the Marines in 2002. He was honorably discharged in November of 2004. His military career included one tour of duty in 2003 during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The wartime experience left him scarred and resulted in an ongoing battle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
He was united in marriage to Brandy Lyn Sanchez on October 20, 2017. They made their home together in Gering.
Gideon enjoyed going out to eat at various places, trying all types of new foods, and traveling near and far with his wife at his side. He would have made a great travel agent as he was usually responsible for coordinating most family trips. He stayed active working out and lifting weights at the gym. Gideon was an avid Husker fan his entire life and naturally his favorite color was red. Going to Lincoln and watching football games with his brother, Gabe, and Brandy were some of his happiest times. Trading vehicles was somewhat of a hobby for him and listening to Christian music was his relaxation. Time spent with his wife, pets, and family members was always of the most importance to him. He attended Calvary Memorial Church in Gering.
Survivors include his wife, Brandy Brunner of Gering; daughter, Monica Moreno of Scottsbluff; grandson, Amiri of Scottsbluff; parents, Gene and Ruth Brunner of Gering; in-laws, Vincent and Celeste Sanchez of Minatare, NE; brother, Gabe Brunner of Gering; niece, Sayde Brunner; maternal grandfather, Paul Jerger of Gering; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, other extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Jaynada Moreno; maternal grandmother, Phyllis Jerger; paternal grandparents, Harry and Colleen Brunner; uncle, Paul Jerger; and cousins, Jeremy Brunner and Matt Jerger.
Gideon was kind, funny, loving, and caring. He would help anyone in need and give the shirt off his back to whoever needed it. Please know you aren’t alone if you have a loved one who suffers from PTSD and forms of drug addiction. Keep them in prayer and seek help. Our only hope is in Jesus Christ when all is said and done.
