Glen Mcclaine

November 7, 1946 — May 22, 2022

Glen McClaine, 75, of Gering, Nebraska died Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 6, 2022, at the Rock Church in Scottsbluff with Rev. Dr. Tyson Lambertson officiating.  The Nebraska Army National Guard and Gering American Legion Post 36 will provide military honors.  The service will be livestreamed and recorded to Glen’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.  Cremation has taken place in accordance with his wishes. Memorials may be made to the Rock Church Legacy Fund Scholarships.

Glen was born November 7, 1946, in Vanhuser, Missouri to Cecil and Ollie (Farmer) McClaine.  He graduated from Barstow High School.

He enlisted into the US Army on November 9, 1966, and served in Vietnam. He became a member of the elite 101st Airborne and a Green Barret.  Glen was a decorated soldier and recipient of five awards including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, the Air Medal and Purple Heart.  Glen continued his post-service career in the National Guard.

Glen began working for Union Pacific Railroad after he was honorably discharged.  He was a diesel electrician journeyman for 42 ½ years.

He married Connie Sheehy in 1990.  They would have been celebrating their 33rd anniversary together on May 26th.

Glen was a member of the Yermo CA American Legion Post 797, the Rock Church, and a supporter of Homes for Our Troops (HFOT).  He enjoyed being in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping.  He LOVED helping others, his family, kids in general, and God.

Survivors include his wife, Connie; children, Glen (Cathy) McClaine Jr., London (Jeremy) Wegrzyn, Wendy (Jarod) Mullins, and Jay McClaine; brother, Wayne (Marsha) McClaine; sisters, Judy (Steve) Hard, Jean McClaine, and Ruth Ann McClaine; step-children, Jeff (Cristina) Brandt, Joey Brandt, and Julie (Shaun) Lemmon; daughter in law, Anna McClaine; brother in law, Jim (Sandi) Cole; sixteen grandchildren; one great granddaughter and one expected on November 30th; special family member, Kathie Caroon; along with many nieces and nephews, extended family members, and his Rock Church Family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil McClaine; mother, Ollie McClaine; brothers, C J McClaine, Darrell McClaine, and Toni McClaine; sister, Linda McClaine; granddaughter, Shadow McClaine; and special family member, Kenny Sheehy.
