Grace Frueh was greeted by Jesus in her eternal home on August 4, 2024, at the age of 88.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. MST, Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Grace Chapel in Scottsbluff, Nebraska with Pastor Bruce Peterson officiating. Cremation has taken place in accordance with her wishes. She will be laid to rest at Goodrich City Cemetery in North Dakota at a later date. Memorials may be made in care of the family for later designation. The service will be live-streamed and recorded to Grace’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.

Grace was born on March 25, 1936, at her home in Hurdsfield, ND to Charles Francis and Susie (Kleinsasser) Best. She was raised on a farm in rural Chasley, ND and attended elementary school in Hurdsfield, ND. She started her working career in Harvey at the Bergs 5 & 10 store. At this time in her life, she was rooming with her sisters as the men were in the military serving abroad.

Grace married Delmer Frueh on February 10, 1952. They purchased a farm north of Goodrich and farmed there until 1983. Grace was a longtime member of Peace Lutheran Church and served as the president of their women’s group. Grace enjoyed playing cards, gardening, snowmobiling with neighbor friends, and fishing with Delmer and the family most summer weekends. Grace and Delmer served as youth leaders and enjoyed being involved in church and community events.

Delmer died on June 26, 1978. Grace continued farming until 1983 when she moved to Scottsbluff, Nebraska and purchased Riverview Golf Course which she owned until June of 2021. While in Scottsbluff, she met her partner, Steven Schneider, who was at her side helping her run the golf course until his death in 2019. Grace loved to meet and greet people. She often took the opportunity to help those who were down on their luck and needed a friend. She enjoyed having golf tournaments and meeting travelers who stopped in to play a quick round of golf. She also enjoyed the many people young and old that came out frequently to play golf. As years went on, she enjoyed going to golf trade shows and playing slot machines, of which she often appeared to be quite lucky.

Grace spent her final years in The Village Assisted Living Center in Scottsbluff and the Heritage Estates nursing home in Gering, NE. She loved visits with family and friends, and always enjoyed listening to and singing old gospel hymns.

She is survived by her children, LaVerda Frueh of Cavalier, ND, James (Jean) Frueh, of Fargo, ND, Denice (Rick) Stapleton of Torrington, WY, and Jerry (Laurie) Frueh, of Scottsbluff, NE; eight grandchildren, Jason Frueh, Jackie Zwingel, Jennifer Sinner, Joe Fink, Nikki Fink, Jessica Daza, Joshua Frueh, and Jeremy Frueh; nineteen great-grandchildren, Hailey, Annika, Carson, Tyson, Macie, Noah, Crosby, Titus, Bo, Adrian, Katelynn, Mason, Dayton, Dawson, David, Della, Josiah, Jensen, and Jerren; sisters, Mary Lou Schmidt and Geraldine Hoffard both of Harvey, ND; sister- in- law, Dorothy Best of Harvey, ND; along with extended family members, Sherry Byrne of Mechanicsburg, PA, Cindy Erb of Oshkosh, NE, and Brian Schneider and Bruce (Debra) Schneider all of Scottsbluff, NE.
