A fisherman, hunter, and artist, Lonnie Covalt, 54, of Scottsbluff, went to his Heavenly home Sunday, June 12, 2022, when he departed from Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff surrounded by his family. A graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Broadwater. A reception will follow at the Starr Street Diner in Broadwater. Cremation has taken place in accordance with his wishes. Memorials may be made to Rose Hill Cemetery or Broadwater Rural Fire Department in lieu of flowers. Lonnie was born September 29, 1967, in Alliance to Landon and Sally (Reinmuth) Covalt. He graduated from Alliance High School in 1985, then attended college at WNCC. He enrolled in the school of aviation to become an A&P mechanic and made the Dean’s List. It was later in Lonnie’s career that he attended Bell Helicopter School in Dallas, Texas for Field Maintenance. He soloed at Alliance City Airport in a Cessna 150 on June 6, 1986, with his stepfather as instructor.
Survivors include his son, Joseph Covalt of Alliance; significant other, Sue Johnson of Scottsbluff; mother, Sally (Larry) Hansen of Alliance; brother, Ryan (Penny) Covalt of Sheridan, WY; sister, Cheri Covalt (David Abel) of Onaga, KS; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lanny Covalt; sister, Alaine Covalt; brother, James Covalt; grandparents, Catherine and Lewis Covalt and Fern and Clarence Reinmuth.
