Lyle B. Huffman, 61, of Banner County, Nebraska, passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Anschutz Hospital in Aurora, Colorado. Lyle was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in early 2021. He recently fought a courageous battle against the West Nile virus.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Monument Bible Church located at 4124 Ave. I, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, December 4, 2023, at Reverence Funeral Parlor in Scottsbluff. The service will be live-streamed and recorded to Lyle’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.
Lyle was born on July 18, 1962, in Scottsbluff, to Archie and Dorothy (Pile) Huffman. He graduated from Banner County High School and received an Associates Degree in Agriculture from UNL.
Lyle moved back to the family farm in Banner County in 1982 to farm and ranch with his dad, Archie, and his brother, Raymond. Later, he and his brother Bryan farmed together for 24 years. Lyle was self-employed and enjoyed giving his nieces and nephews tractor and combine rides. More recently, he gave tractor rides to his great nephews, Brecken and Luke.
He was member of the Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church, he served as the Secretary of the Kirk Cemetery Board, volunteered as a Banner County Firefighter and EMT, served on the FSA (Farm Service Agency) Board, and volunteered on the Banner County Zoning Committee.
Lyle was soft spoken with a great sense of humor. He was kindhearted and never knew a stray cat. He loved his family and especially spending time with his nieces and nephews and their children.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Huffman of Gering; brothers, Howard (Wendy) of Lincoln, Raymond of Gering, and Bryan (Sandra) of Potter; sister, Doris Huffman of Lincoln; ten nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.
Lyle was preceded in death by his dad, Archie.
Memorials may be made to the Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church, the Banner County Fire Department or the Kirk Cemetery.
