M.C. Schaff

August 24, 1934 — February 22, 2022

Meredith Clinton “M.C.” Schaff Jr., left this world doing one of the things he enjoyed, blowing snow from the neighborhood sidewalks.  A Rosary is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 25th, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 26th, both at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Scottsbluff.  Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, followed by a meal in the St. Agnes School gymnasium. Memorials may be made to the St. Agnes School Foundation or donor’s choice.  The service will be livestreamed and recorded to M.C.’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.

He was born August 24, 1934, in Vicksburg, Mississippi to Meredith Sr. and Martha (Pinkston) Schaff. He graduated from St. Aloysius Boys High School and was accepted into the Georgia Institute of Technology, sponsored by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. After graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1957, his uncle presented him with the opportunity to manage a new Magnolia Mobile Homes manufacturing facility in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Young, ambitious, and unattached, he agreed.

M.C. married Darlene Struve in 1961, after being set up on a blind date early in his Scottsbluff days.  He established his own engineering firm, M. C. Schaff and Associates. The firm and his new family flourished – one into a family of three companies, the other into a family of seven children.

He was active in the St. Agnes Catholic faith community, the Scottsbluff/Gering Rotary Club, and the Scottsbluff Elks Club. He was the sponsor for numerous S.H.S. European Band Tours, and he and his family hosted a number of foreign exchange students. M.C. had active Professional Engineering licenses in five states, and active Professional Land Surveying licenses in three states, including the oldest active license in the state of Nebraska.

He is survived by his children, Michael (Julie), Paulynn Schaff (Mark Kominek), Kenton (Suzette), Farrell (Martin Weiers), Steven (Karen), David (Kerri), and Kevin; and sixteen grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene.
