Rose Higel, (11/23/1941 - 04/05/2025) a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of God, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. A lifelong resident of Nebraska, Rose lived a life filled with love, creativity, and adventure.
Rose is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Jerry Higel, with whom she shared a life rich in family and memories. Together, they raised three children: Jerry Jr., Wendy, and Bobbi, each of whom carries forward her legacy of kindness, perseverance, and faith. Rose was a proud and loving grandmother to Nicholas Higel, Kayla Scarberry, and Zane Shaieb, who brought her endless joy and pride. Siblings Carol, Marilyn, and Marilee stayed close throughout their lives and will honor her memory.
A curious woman, she found joy in acquiring skills, hobbies, and experiencing pleasures in life. Rose had a passion for sewing and crafting, many have wrapped themselves in the abundance of quilts that she stitched with love. She loved exploring the outdoors, especially when she could go fishing, looking for gold, or rockhounding—a pastime that brought her both peace and excitement. We are finding her treasures in every pocket.
Above all, Rose was a feisty spirit, who would speak her mind. With Rose you did not have to guess her thoughts. Her strong convictions were a cornerstone of her life, and she lived each day with a heart full of gratitude and spirit. She had a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Rose’s warmth, creativity, and deep devotion to her family and faith will be missed dearly but remembered always. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched.
A celebration of Rose’s life will be held with close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Rose’s memory by spending time with loved ones, enjoying nature, bringing home a gem or rock, baking cinnamon rolls or crafting something from the heart—just as she always did.
