Shannon I. Fenimore, age 83, of Gering, Nebraska died Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Gering with Fr. Mike McDonald as Celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Scottsbluff. A Rosary will be recited beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Cremation has taken place in accordance with Shannon’s wishes. Shannon was born October 28, 1940, to Tuck and Goldie Murphy. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1958. Shannon married Fred K. Fenimore in 1960 and two children were born. The couple later divorced.

Shannon was an administrative assistant for Torrington High School District 1 for special education. She worked as hostess during the days of Bush’s Gaslight. Many people remember Shannon from her position of deputy assessor at Scotts Bluff County Courthouse. She was there nineteen years before retiring in 2007.

Shannon was an active member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Torrington. She served on the Ladies Guild, prayer groups, bible studies, was a former Bazaar Chairman and a catechist. She was a current member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Gering.

Survivors include her son, Brian Kelly (Amy) Fenimore; son-in-law, Gary Kirchhefer; sister, Tami Ellen (Larry) Engleman; brother, Patrick Jay (Ann) Murphy; granddaughters, Shauna Kaye (Daryl) Wunder, Andrea Rae (Justin) Smith, Jordyn Haley Fenimore; grandson, Zachary Joshua Fenimore; great-grandson, Daryn Wunder; great-granddaughters, Skyla Wunder, Shaylyn Wunder, McKenzie Smith and McKayla Smith; five nieces; five nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Billye Castinado and Colleen Mathewson; brothers, Thomas Wilmer Murphy, Danny James Murphy and Timothy Richard Murphy; grandson, Kelly Fenimore; nephew, Brett Castinado; and daughter, Shelly Kaye Kirchhefer.
