Shirley Jean Needs, 85, of Morrill passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Monument Care and Rehab in Scottsbluff. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, January 21, 2022 at Reverence Funeral Parlor in Scottsbluff with Pastor Craig Collins officiating. Cremation has taken place in accordance with Shirley’s wishes. The service will be livestreamed and recorded to her obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com. Memorials in Shirley's name may be made to the Morrill Ladies Auxiliary NE Post 0010 or the Morrill Volunteer Fire Department.
Shirley was born on September 25, 1936, to Henry and Clara (McCoy) Alt. She attended Fairview Country School as a young child and went on to graduate from Mitchell High School in 1954.
She married the love of her life, Jon Needs, on October 22, 1960. Together they had four children: Greg, Mike, Kim, and Shanna.
Shirley worked in the office for several years for Chester B. Brown in Morrill and for the family-owned business, LaShan Co. Shirley was previously active in pinochle card clubs, American Legion Auxiliary, and over the years attended several sporting events in support of her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed camping, boating, and floating the Wyoming Rivers with family and friends in her younger years. As Shirley reached retirement age with her husband, they enjoyed participating in several craft/vendors shows in the valley. What Shirley cherished most was her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Jon; children, Greg Needs (Kerrie Heimbouch), Mike (Michele) Needs, Kim Needs and Shanna (Marvin) Brown. Shirley was blessed with four grandchildren, Shaely (Bri) Needs, Gordon (Bailey) Needs, Brody, and Brooklyn Brown. Shirley is also survived by her brother, Jerry Alt; a nephew; and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
