Shirley Jean Woodard, 84, of Torrington, Wyoming, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 19, 2022, at Gering Zion Church in Gering, Nebraska with Pastor Tim Hebbert officiating. A private family viewing and cremation will be held prior. The memorial service will be livestreamed and recorded to Shirley’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com. Memorials may be made to Regional West Hospice or Gering Zion Church.
Shirley was born September 12, 1938, to Henry and Mary (Romick) Weimer in Melbeta, Nebraska. She attended grade school at Minatare and high school at Scottsbluff.
Shirley married Richard “Dick” Woodard on June 19, 1957, in El Paso, Texas while he was serving in the military. The couple returned to Scottsbluff in 1959 and three children were born to their union: Darrell, Roxanne, and Anthony.
Shirley was employed at Baileys Food Store in Scottsbluff. She later began a role as a bus driver for Melbeta High School for several years, loving every child she met. She also worked at Gering Clothing for the Vickories as a salesperson for some time.
It was 1996 when Shirley and Dick retired and moved to Torrington. Shirley found a friend in everyone with her smile and good humor. She loved children, her family, and her dog, Peanut.
Survivors include her husband, Dick of Torrington, WY; children, Darrell (Shannon) Woodard of Seattle, WA, Roxanne Corr of Olympia, WA, and Anthony Woodard of Alliance, NE; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; along with other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; all of her siblings, Harold, Raymond, Heinie, Johnny, Ed, Richard, Irene, Sally, Mary; son in law, Steve Corr; and many close friends.
