Sylvester BJ Trevino, 36, of Scottsbluff, entered into rest on Friday, October 1, 2021. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, October 8, 2021 at Reverence Funeral Parlor in Scottsbluff with Fr. Mike McDonald as Celebrant. Burial will follow at the Bayard Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, October 7, at Reverence Funeral Parlor. Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the family.
BJ was born October 6, 1984 in Hereford, Texas to Sylvester Trevino Jr. and Maria E. Trevino. He moved to Nebraska in 1996 and lived in Bayard for many years.
He met his wife, Shantell, while attending Bayard High School in August 2000. He finally married her on July 25, 2015 and they had four children together: sons, Gabriel Trevino, age 20, Jacob Trevino, age 15, Damian Trevino, age 4 and his only daughter, Lillianna, age 12.
BJ was the heart and soul of his family and put family as his main priority in life. He was the best father, husband, and son anyone could ask for. BJ had a huge heart and was a magnet for all sorts of people. He showed his love to everyone in so many ways. He would give his shirt off his back and his last penny to anyone who needed it. BJ was a fighter and with all his medical problems he still managed to keep a smile on his face, always laughing. He struggled with diabetes, heart problems, lung problems, addiction and with pressing the redeem button when playing slots. He was one of the luckiest men when it came to gambling. His jokes, his laugh, his talking crap, will forever be missed, but he will never be forgotten and will forever be loved.
He is survived by his wife, Shantell Trevino of Scottsbluff; sons, Gabriel, Jacob and Damian all of Scottsbluff; daughter, Lillianna also of Scottsbluff; his mother, Maria “Mary” Trevino of Bayard; siblings, TJ (Stephanie) Trevino of Scottsbluff, Roxanna Trevino of Bayard, Joanna Trevino of Bayard, PJ Trevino of Lincoln, DJ Trevino of Bayard, and CJ (Odisela) Trevino of Scottsbluff; seven nephews, Zachary, Marcus, Cruz, Royal, Carlos, Omarion and Alejandro; and six nieces, Alazay, Miracle, Mercedez, Margarita, Yanessa and Marisella. He had a huge number of aunts, uncles, cousins and in-law relatives, along with his only remaining grandmother, Theresa.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sylvester Trevino Jr.; special uncle, Julio Ybarra; grandmother, Maria Ybarra; and grandfather, Julio Ybarra.
