Vernon Clay Trumbly

Vernon Clay Trumbly, age 72, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2024, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, November 21, 2024, at the Western Nebraska Veterans’ Home. The United States Air Force and Gering American Legion Post 36 Honor Guard will provide military honors. Private burial will occur at the Nebraska Veterans’ Cemetery at Alliance per Vern’s wishes. Vern was born June 8, 1952, in Placerville, California, the youngest child of Claiborne and Grace (Wieland) Trumbly. 

Vern entered the United States Air Force in 1972 and was honorably discharged in 1980.

Survivors include his son, Patrick Trumbly; three siblings, Wayne (Kathy) Trumbly, Loreen (Edward) Byrd, and Mary (Jerry) Bower; extended family members; and his friends and neighbors at the Western Nebraska Veterans’ Home.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
