Wanda Arlene Mueller

September 13, 1936 — July 31, 2024

Wanda Arlene Mueller, age 87, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer. A celebration of her life will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Scottsbluff YMCA Trails West Camp. Cremation has taken place. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting Wanda’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.

Wanda was born September 13, 1936, in Denver, Colorado to Dale and Eloise (Lance) Morton.

She was a loyal employee of Western Sugar Factory in Scottsbluff for over thirty years, a job she enjoyed until her retirement. Wanda soon began a pilot car service after retiring and traveled across the country. She later became a crossing guard at the corner of 9th Street by Roosevelt Elementary School where students loved the hugs from Wanda every morning and afternoon.

Wanda liked spending time at Lake McConaughy with her family. She had a knack for finding treasures at local auctions and garage sales. She was also an avid crafter of many sorts. Her artificial fingernails, bright-colored clothing, and matching shoes became her signature look. Wanda stood out in person but couldn’t be missed on the road either while driving her car with big eyelashes displayed over the headlights. She was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Scottsbluff.

Survivors include her lifelong friend and ex-husband, Harvey Mueller; daughter, Renee L. Mueller; sons, Rock (Dovi) Mueller, Rusty (Teri) Mueller, and Robb (Trish) Mueller; and grandson who was like a son, Mario Mueller. Wanda found joy in her thirteen grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren. One great-great grandson also survives her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Eloise Morton; son, Rick Mueller; and sister, Wilma Jean Morton.

Wanda was called, “Mom” and “Grandma” by so many who are saddened by her loss. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Mom, you will be remembered and missed.
